Commanders  Column

19 Dec 17

We've had a very busy three months to begin our fiscal year.

1 Aug - Lower Paxton Township Night Out for Safety.  Almost 20 of our Legion Family attended and supported our local police departments.

27 Aug - Post Installation Ceremony.  Over 125 people attended the installation of our Legion Family Officers.  Amazing support was shown to all of our organizations.

30 Sep - Oktoberfest.  Over 300 people attended and we had a blast.  Our two man fest band did a wonderful job.  They've been booked to return next year!  The purpose of the Oktoberfest is to say thank you to the members of all organizations for their continued support of the post.

11 Nov - Post Everlasting Ceremony.  Over 100 people attended this ceremony and dinner to recognize those Legionairres who flew west since Veterans Day, 2016.  23 families were invited and attendance was good.

These are just the Post events that come to mind.  Our ALA, Sons and Riders have continued to support our veterans and their families with numerous activities.  The Holloween parties were fun for children and adults alike.  Our Childrens Breakfast with Santa and the annual Lebanon County VA Hospital Veterans Dinner were fun times for all participents high. I can't thank everyone enough for the time and effort you put forward.

As we go into the winter, Essay and Oratorical contests are being started.  If you have anyone you would like to recognize as part of the American Legion's recognition and scholarship programs, please contact me to get started.

We are preparing for the National Commanders visit on 20 March.  This is a great opportunity to welcome and show our support for the first female National Commander in Legion history.

Please come to our meetings and see how much fun we have together and more importantly, how we support each other through thick and thin, in good times and bad.  We've got each others backs.

Yours in Continued Service,

Ken Stambaugh
